Every Monday evening in a local Redfern pub you can hear the sounds of sailors hoisting the ropes, turning the capstan wheel and sipping the occasional ale.
The strange thing about these shanty singers is that they are predominately young.
Led by a few salty voices the main force of The Shanty Club is that everyone sings and knows the refrains to the great legacy of the age of sail. Great fun and why not! Belay there!
